This privacy policy explains how Kate + Coast uses, stores and protects any information that you submit or discuss. The policy has been written with guidance from the UK’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This privacy policy applies to all the data that I collect and process, and by using Kate + Coast services you consent to this process.

1. The data I collect from you

In order to fulfil your enquiries and orders, certain information is required. I collect details via my website through the use of a contact form on the Contact page or by using the Chat with Me function. Data collected may include your name, email address and contact telephone number, and your address is collected for invoicing purposes and also to allow shipping of your order.

Other information I collect will relate to the creation and design of your order. This includes details of a recipient of an order should you be shipping it directly to the recipient. For wedding stationery purposes, it may be necessary to obtain details about your wedding. This may include the date, time, venue/location and any other specific information that you wish to have included, such as guest names and/or guest addresses that you wish to have printed on envelopes. In order to fulfil requests for your order, all of this information is necessary.

The Kate + Coast website uses cookies, which are small pieces of data, also known as unique identifiers that web servers send to browsers. These cookies then can be sent back to the server each time your browser requests a new page. It’s a way for a website to remember you, your preferences, and your habits online. Cookies are used to enhance your browsing experience and you are given the option to accept or decline cookies whilst browsing the site via the pop-up banner.

At present there is not a mailing list for newsletters and I will only contact you with emails relating to your enquiry, order or booking. Should a mailing list be created, you will not automatically be added to this, but there will be an option should you wish to opt in to these at a later date.

I also operate on social media accounts including Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. I may discuss information such as design choices or order updates via my social media direct messages, but will never ask for personal data through my posts or direct messages. My Instagram account does allow for direct email messages to be sent to my email account.

4. How I store and protect your data

All the data I collect from you is stored securely on a password protected desktop computer and laptop. Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology is in use when information is submitted online. Your information is stored for a period of up to 7 years after your order is completed, and this is for tax legislation purposes only. If you do not proceed with your enquiry, booking or order, your information will be deleted from the system after a period of 6 months. In the unlikely event of a criminal breach of the system, I will inform the relevant regulatory body and, if your personal data was involved, we will contact you directly.

As part of the wedding stationery booking process, I will send out personalised contracts and quotes. These pieces of documentation are password-protected on my system to ensure privacy and stored on a password-protected desktop computer. They are also sent out via secure email on a private network.
